“Powering life in New Orleans and helping our city grow is central to everything we do. As we work to keep our rates low and make our grid stronger, our focus remains on our customers – on the neighbors and friends that we are privileged to serve.”

Powering our city in more ways than one

2,000 members of the Entergy family live in New Orleans

  • We raise our families here.
  • We worship and volunteer here.
  • We parade here.
  • We weather storms here.
  • We vote and pay taxes here.

This is our home

  • Entergy is one of only two Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Louisiana, and the only one in New Orleans.
  • Our headquarters operations generate an estimated $20 million in revenue for the city of New Orleans per year, including $2.5 million in direct taxes.
  • This is on top of the nearly $54 million that Entergy New Orleans pays in city taxes as its electrical utility provider.
  • Entergy sustains more than 4,400 jobs for New Orleans citizens.

Here are just a few ways we power life in New Orleans:

Keeping your bills as low as possible

• Heat and hurricanes are a fact of life in New Orleans, but we do everything we can to keep customer bills as low as possible, including keeping Entergy New Orleans rates 21% lower than the national average.

• We offer free programs to help customers with their bills – in 2024, we provided more than $380,000 in bill payment assistance and energy efficiency to help customers through our “Beat the Heat” summer campaign alone.

• As we see more frequent extreme weather and as inflation and materials costs continue to rise, we’re saving customers money by hardening and replacing infrastructure now to prevent outages and additional emergency repair costs.

Making the power grid stronger

• In 2024, the City Council approved the first phase of our multimillion-dollar plan to strengthen the city’s electrical infrastructure.

• In phase 1, we are investing $100 million to replace 30 miles of wires and harden more than 3,000 poles and other distribution structures by the end of 2026.

Investing in our home

• As the only Fortune 500 company in New Orleans, we’re driving economic growth across the city, helping attract events like the Super Bowl and working with local leaders to cement our place as the nation’s premier host city.

• Last year, Entergy donated $4.3 million from shareholder funds – not from customer bills – to more than 110 New Orleans nonprofits.

• We’ve committed $20 million over 10 years to support historically black college and university students in our service area through the Power of Prosperity program that we piloted in New Orleans in 2023.
