Energy Efficient New Homes Program

The Entergy New Orleans, Inc. “Energy Efficient New Homes” Program is a market transformation program that promotes and provides incentives to builders for high energy efficiency building practices for home construction and remodeling. 

Who Is Eligible?

All Home Builders and Remodeling Contractors who build or remodel homes in Orleans Parish qualify to participate in the program.  Requirements for homes to be eligible to receive incentives are:

  1. The home must be served by Entergy's New Orleans; and
  2. The home must be:
  • a new, separately metered, residential construction; or a rebuilt home requiring a new wall, ceiling and roof assembly.

What Are The Program Benefits?

The program offers cash incentives to, recognition for, and promotion of local home builders and remodelers who take steps to implement specific energy efficiency building practices that meet the program criteria for an energy efficient new home. How Does The Program Work?

Incentives are available to builders when installing energy efficiency measures that achieve energy savings that are 15% or greater over the current minimum 2006 International Energy Efficiency Code requirements for Orleans Parish and that meet a qualifying rating achieved through one of the following nationally recognized home energy rating programs:

  • National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Model Green Home Building Program; or
  • Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Homes Program
  • Department of Energy's Builder's Challenge Program {SEE Below for new pages}

What Are The Incentives?

The Energy Efficient New Homes incentives are paid based on the rating achieved by the constructed home.

Funding is limited. Incentives are offered to builders on a first-come, first-served basis while incentive funds last.
