Crews will help restore power in the wake of winter storm
BATON ROUGE, La. – Entergy Louisiana,
LLC, Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. and Entergy New Orleans, Inc. are
teaming up to send 500 restoration workers to Arkansas on Friday to help restore
service to Entergy Arkansas, Inc. customers who lose power as a result of a
winter storm that is expected to strike the state.
The Louisiana crews will continue to
monitor the weather and will time their departure depending on local conditions
in order to ensure that there are enough crews to adequately respond to any
local restoration needs.
The National Weather Service has
issued a winter storm watch for northern and central Arkansas that began
Thursday and lasts through Friday night. The forecast calls for gusty winds and
significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations in the affected areas, with as much
as four-to-six inches of snow expected in the northern part of the state.
Together, Entergy’s Louisiana
companies will send 205 linemen and tool workers plus 19 scouting teams to the
affected areas. They will be joined by 190 vegetation workers and 80 support
personnel. Additionally, as many as 24 contract workers will be sent to aid
restoration efforts. The crews are expected to be in Arkansas for several days.
“We are glad to do our part in
helping restore power for those people who are affected by the winter storm in
Arkansas,” said Dennis Dawsey, vice president of Entergy’s Louisiana operations.
“Entergy Arkansas has come to the aid of our customers many times over the years
and we are glad to be able to help their customers now. One of the benefits of
being part of the Entergy family is that we can help each other in times of
need. Our employees take great pride in safely getting the lights back on as
quickly as possible.”
The Louisiana crews are drawn from
work groups across the state, leaving enough personnel in Louisiana to manage
day-to-day work or storm events that happen in the Louisiana service areas.
